The use of aerial and ground-based fire retardants to help mitigate and manage wildfire is more important than ever, as increasingly severe fires consume more land and property and impact more lives. Innovations in the chemistries and applications of these fire retardants are critical to enhancing performance in the field. At the same time, environmental effects and corrosion of equipment and structures are increasingly scrutinized. The good news is that progress is continually being made. At the same time, not all fire retardant chemistries available today represent true progress.
