Myth vs. Reality: Understanding the Chemistry of Wildfire Suppression

The use of aerial and ground-based fire retardants to help mitigate and manage wildfire is more important than ever, as increasingly severe fires consume more land and property and impact more lives. Innovations in the chemistries and applications of these fire retardants are critical to enhancing performance in the field. At the same time, environmental effects and corrosion of equipment and structures are increasingly scrutinized. The good news is that progress is continually being made. At the same time, not all fire retardant chemistries available today represent true progress. This webinar will review the motivations and goals that drive fire retardant innovation, highlighting real world advances that have been made and R&D objectives for the future.

What you’ll learn:

  1. The evolution of fire retardants as important tools in wildfire suppression
  2. How advances in fire retardants get made: dialogue and goals
  3. Recent advances in fire retardant technology
  4. New concepts for wildfire mitigation using ground-based fire retardants such as PHOS-CHEK® FORTIFY®
  5. Advances represented by the new PHOS-CHEK® LCE20-FX fire retardant
