The most important step you'll take this season

PHOS-CHEK can be applied easily, just mix and spray around the perimeter of your home, outbuildings and other areas of at-risk fuels. One application can help protect your home and property for months, until a significant rain event occurs.

PHOS-CHEK works naturally by changing the molecular structure of organic materials like wood and vegetation so they’re no longer combustible. PHOS-CHEK is safe for people and pets, and it is environmentally responsible when used as directed.

PHOS-CHEK Application

PHOS-CHEK long-term fire retardant should be applied in late spring or early summer when vegetation has become brown, dry and stopped growing. When vegetative growth continues after the initial application, a reapplication of PHOS-CHEK is required. It is recommended that the homeowner keep additional stock of PHOS-CHEK on a shelf in the garage in order to re-apply again after a significant rain.

Before PHOS-CHEK is applied it is recommended that the homeowner first walk around the property in order to assess risk, potential hazards, and ground topography. If the homeowner opts to apply PHOS-CHEK themselves, make sure to shake well before mixing and only mix with water at the time you plan to use it. When using a 6-gallon sprayer, mix the entire gallon of concentrate with 5 gallons of water. If using a smaller sprayer, mix 1-part concentrate with 5 parts water. For best results, use a paint strainer or cheesecloth when pouring concentrate into the water in order to capture any undissolved particles that could clog the nozzle during application.

Beginning at the foundation line of the structure, apply PHOS-CHEK on the ground around the house and all outbuildings, and into mulch, wood, leaves, needles, brush, bushes, trees, and other natural cellulose fiber vegetation or products.

PHOS-CHEK is also effective on unpainted raw wood surfaces, such as wood decks, fences, siding and shake roofs. Please note: Application to these surfaces will leave a white residue that should be washed off as soon as possible; therefore, we recommend application to these surfaces as a last resort for extra protection during extreme wildfire conditions.

Spray PHOS-CHEK on all vegetative fuel sources close to the home and around outbuildings to avoid ignition by wind-driven embers. PHOS-CHEK should be used in conjunction with standard vegetation management practices and defensible space recommendations according to NFPA FIREWISE USA® Principles advocated by your local fire department. https://www.nfpa.org/Public-Education/By-topic/Wildfire/Firewise-USA

PHOS-CHEK is a people and pet-friendly long-term fire retardant. Effective immediately when applied and will be effective for days, weeks and months while the weather remains dry. However, exposure to a significant rain event will wash PHOS-CHEK away. After application, the retardant remains effective as long as it continues to adhere to the treated fuel.

How PHOS-CHEK works:

When PHOS-CHEK comes into contact with a flame, the surface of the treated cellulose turns into a non-flammable carbon, which will not carry the flame – thus slowing down and preventing the fire from spreading. When vegetation grows, or when PHOS-CHEK is washed off by heavy rainfall or sprinklers, re-apply the product.

It is recommended that PHOS-CHEK be applied by one of Perimeter Solutions’ Authorized Service Providers. For those who prefer to apply the retardant themselves, liquid concentrate is available for purchase for the homeowner to mix with water prior to use.
